ADMINISTRATION FAILS TO SUPPORT FAMILY DAIRY FARMERS
WASHINGTON (July 19, 2006) - The Dairy Subcommittee of the National Family Farm Coalition delivered a letter to President George W. Bush today requesting an official response as to why the Administration continues to do nothing to address the rampant corruption in the dairy industry.

"After being ignored for six years, we need to hold the Administration accountable for causing so much chaos in the dairy industry," NFFC Board Member and OH dairy farmer Bryan Wolfe said. "The letter lays out the actions NFFC dairy farmers have taken thus far to expose the dairy commodities price manipulation that is turning once vibrant rural communities into ghost towns with little to no attention from our elected officials."

NFFC asks for a mechanism of oversight of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) so that there is legal accountability to safeguard a fair pricing system for farmers, producers and consumers.

Paul Rozwadowski, Dairy Subcommittee Chair and WI dairy farmer stated, "In order for dairy farmers to receive a fair price, we need a pricing system that reflects a regional cost of production and true market conditions; conditions that are free from manipulation by greedy corporate interest at the under regulated CME."

The Dairy Subcommittee of NFFC will continue to work to hold our government officials and agencies accountable. A copy of the letter is attached. For further information, please call (202) 543-5675 or visit www.nffc.net.
